Bamboo Bath Caddy — Expandable, With Stand and Glass Slot

Most baths end early, and it is rarely the water going cold.

It is that you are holding a paperback above the waterline with one damp hand, your phone is balanced on the rim where it will not stay, and your tea is on the floor at an angle you cannot reach without sitting up. The bath is fine. The logistics are what drive you out of it.

What it holds

1. A book or a tablet. A chrome wire stand folds up out of the slatted deck and props either at a reading angle, clear of the water. Fold it flat when you don't want it.
2. A glass. The slot at one end takes a wine glass by the stem, so it hangs rather than stands. It can't be knocked over when you shift your weight.
3. Everything else. The recessed tray at the other end takes a phone, a candle, a bar of soap. The slats in between drain, so a wet flannel isn't sitting in a puddle.

Will it fit your bath?

Pushed in, it is 70 cm (27½ in) long. Pulled all the way out, it reaches 105.5 cm (41½ in). The deck is 22 cm (8¾ in) across.

A standard alcove bath is about 76 cm (30 in) wide across the outside of the rims, which sits comfortably inside that range. Measure yours rim to rim: anything from roughly 70 to 105 cm works.

The arms are lipped — they sit down over the rim on each side and stay put. Push them back in and it is a flat tray again, narrow enough to store standing up.

Bamboo, because of where it lives

Bamboo handles a steamy room better than most woods. It is dense, it doesn't drink water the way pine does, and it doesn't feel cold when you rest a bare arm on it.

One honest note. This is a tray, not a shelf — it holds what you put on it while you are in the bath, not half your bathroom. And like any wood in a wet room, it wants drying off rather than being left under a dripping tap. Do that and it keeps its colour for years. Don't, and it will grey at the ends like every other bamboo board you have owned.
