Your elbow is not a thermometer.
Testing a baby’s bath with an elbow or a wrist works until you are tired, your hands are cold, or someone else ran the bath. This duck floats in the water and reads it for you: a number on its back, and a small light beside it that turns green when the water is right.

Green means just right.
The number tells you exactly. The light tells you at a glance, from across the bathroom.
- Blue: too coolunder 35 °C · 95 °FAdd warm water and stir.
- Green: just right35–39 °C · 95–102 °FBath time.
- Red: too hotover 39 °C · 102 °FAdd cold water and stir.
Stir. Drop it in. Read.

- Run the bath and stir it. Hot water sits on top and cooler water underneath, so mix it before you measure.
- Drop the duck in. It floats with its display facing up. Give the number a moment to settle.
- Read the light. Blue or red: adjust, stir, check again. Green: bath time.

You choose the scale.
Pick the Fahrenheit duck if that is how you think about temperature, the Celsius duck if it isn’t. Same duck, same price, $24.99.

What it doesn’t do.
- It doesn’t watch the babyIt reads the water, nothing more. A baby can slip under in a few centimetres of water, quickly and quietly. Stay within reach for the whole bath, every bath.
- It isn’t a fever thermometerIt measures bath water, not people. For your baby’s temperature, use a thermometer made for that.
- It isn’t for chewingIt floats and it’s a duck, so small hands will reach for it. There is a battery inside: keep it out of mouths.
- One reading isn’t the whole bathWater cools as the bath goes on, and it layers when you top it up. Stir and read again whenever you add water.

Before you ask.
How warm should a baby’s bath be?
Warm, not hot. The usual advice is around body temperature, 37–38 °C (about 99–100 °F). The duck’s green light covers 35–39 °C (95–102 °F), so aim for the middle of the green.
Fahrenheit or Celsius?
You choose when you order: the °F duck reads in Fahrenheit, the °C duck in Celsius. Same duck, same price.
Does it need a battery?
The battery comes already inside it.
How big is it?
The maker doesn’t list its measurements, so we won’t guess a number for you.
Can it stay in the bath?
It floats in the bath while you check the water. Afterwards lift it out, dry it, and keep it out of reach between baths.
Can I send it back?
Unopened items can come back within 7 days. It is a bath item, so once it has been used we can't take it back — but if it arrives damaged, send us a photo and we send a new one.
